As StayAlert! has previously reported, Rural Emergency Hospitals (REHs) are a new Medicare Part A provider type and as of January 1, 2023, CMS pays for Medicare-enrolled REHs to deliver emergency hospital, observation and other services to Medicare patients on an outpatient basis.
