As StayAlert reported in April, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced that COVID-19 pandemic related enforcement discretions were ending.

With respect to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules related to telehealth, OCR granted a 90-calendar day transition period for covered health care providers to come into compliance. The transition period began on May 12, 2023, and will expire at 11:59 p.m. on August 9, 2023.
