The Joint Commission (TJC) has issued Quick Safety 61 reviewing strategies for preventing non-ventilator hospital-acquired pneumonia. According to TJC, estimates show that one in every 100 hospitalized patients will be affected by non-ventilator hospital-acquired pneumonia (NVHAP). And yet, despite the serious impact on patient safety, NVHAP is not recognized as one of the National Database of Nursing Quality indicators and it is not a reportable condition within the Centers for Disease Control
