The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General recently published the results of an audit of nursing homes in New Jersey that was conducted to determine how N.J. nursing homes were complying with Federal requirements for life safety, emergency preparedness and infection control. While the audit only looked at nursing homes in one state, the findings are valuable for all nursing homes that participate in Medicare or Medicaid programs.
