The Joint Commission Announces Reduction in Standards Across All Accreditation Programs; Freeze for Hospital Accreditation Fees

The Joint Commission has announced that the agency is eliminating 168 standards (14%) and revising 14 other standards across its accreditation programs. The intent is to streamline requirements for efficiency and impact on patient safety, quality and equity. TJC has also announced that it will not raise accreditation fees for domestic hospitals in 2023 in recognition of the financial challenges hospitals and health systems continue to face.
