The Joint Commission (TJC) has developed two new standards to improve the quality and safety of perinatal care in Joint Commission–accredited hospitals. The new standards require organizations to reduce the likelihood of harm related to maternal hemorrhage and severe hypertension/preeclampsia.
The two new standards are within the Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services (PC) chapter at PC.06.01.01 and PC.06.01.03 and consist of 13 elements of performance. They are effective July 1, 2020. The…
