The Joint Commission has issued a new Quick Safety report that addresses optimal use of telemedicine to deliver safe patient care. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in increased use and reliance upon telemedicine and according to TJC, there are many benefits with the use of telemedicine, including but not limited to:

  • Allowing social distancing
  • Monitoring patients that are quarantined
  • Reducing the use of PPE
  • Eliminating transportation barriers to care
